concept + event branding / world championship
From october 26th to 30th 2022, the biggest Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop-Battles, Breaking and Popping World Championship took place in the "Stadthalle Graz". My Dance Club (TSC The One) was the organizer of the event and they hired me to come up with the concept and create the event-branding. The motto of the event was "the beat is now" which also served as the basis for the concept of the visual identity I created. My goal was to visually combine the aspect of beat with the time reference as a linking piece I found music. Therefore I decided to graphically translate the ISO norm for timestamps used in songs into the basic concept to display the slogan the:beat:is:now. Additionally, I took inspiration from Graffiti-Art, one of the four pillars in Hip-Hop, to create further graphic elements. In the past these event usually used some sort of icon/s from a dancer but I decided to break the tradition and take on a different approach by using stylized text and more subtle pictures from a photoshoot done solely for this campaign.
For the event I designed stickers, flyers, posters, diplomas, digital and print advertisments for the newspaper, roll-ups, a picture-wall, entrance-passes and wristbands, website, social-media-content,
a digital advertissment clip, on site floorplan and signs, as well as merchandise.
